Safety during kite surfing camps

It is always necessary to remember that kitesurfing is an extreme sport, like any extreme sport kitesurfing is associated with risks. That is why we have selected only those yacht safaris with experienced boat crews, all of whom have STCW certificates, qualified and certified kite guides, IKO instructors and divers with PADI certificates. The water area in which the safaris take place is surrounded by a large number of reefs, which makes it impossible to meet aggressive inhabitants of the Red Sea. We offer only new yachts that meet international safety standards.

Kitesurf camp on a superyacht is a unique type of kiteboarding adventure across the Egyptian islands in the Red Sea, available only here, from Hurghada to El Gouna. The exclusivity of this experience lies in the fact that your lessons will take place between uninhabited islands with shallow lagoons, rightfully considered the world's best kitesurfing destinations. These islands and reefs prevent the formation of large waves, making kite lessons more comfortable than elsewhere. Furthermore, comfort is also ensured by the large size of the yacht and its low center of gravity.

Here's How Our KiteSurf Camp Works

Kite camp is also commonly referred to as kite safari because you are on the hunt for the best kitesurfing conditions. Kite safari is suitable for both beginner kite surfers and experienced riders. It is also a good holiday option for couples with children and solo travelers. Our unique kitesurf camp Egypt offers lots of activities to keep anyone entertained so even your child won't get bored.

On the first day (Saturday), we will either meet you at the airport or pick you up from the hotel and take you directly to the yacht, where the kitesurfing camp will be held. You can board the vessel from 16:00 on Saturday until 5:00 on Sunday. Typically, the yacht departs from the marina on Sunday morning between 5:00 and 10:00.

Then, on Sunday morning, we arrive at one of our first kitesurfing destinations. After a delicious breakfast prepared by a chef, our instructors conduct a briefing where they share essential information about the spots where you'll learn to kitesurf and how our kitesurfing school organizes rescues throughout the camp. They will also provide safety instructions on the yacht. After that, we assign instructors to surfers and head directly to the island, where all the equipment, including a trainer kite, drinks, and other vital staff, await us.

The kiteboarding lessons take place in a relaxed manner under the supervision of the organizers and instructors, who watch every surfer carefully and are ready to assist when needed. In the meantime, a professional photographer takes pictures of your private lessons.

At our kitesurfing school, students are grouped with four people per instructor and two kites. The instructor starts with the first group and then moves on to the second, alternating between them throughout the entire kitesurf camp. As soon as participants learn to control the kite safely, two groups are allowed to kite simultaneously while the instructor gives personalized tasks.

After lunchtime, kitesurfing camp participants are given an hour or an hour and a half break. Then we head back to the kite spot and continue to learn to kitesurf. Snacks like sandwiches, fruits, or pastries are also provided on the island between lunch and dinner. During the breaks between surf lessons, you can enjoy a relaxing massage from a certified therapist.

At sunset, we return to the yacht, which will serve as a floating hotel for the whole duration of the camp. On the vessel, you will be able to take hot showers and enjoy a tasty dinner, during which your instructor will review photos and videos from the current and previous days, discuss any mistakes, and offer ways to improve. Then, you can relax in the chill-out areas or participate in an awesome kitesurf school party. This is how we usually spend each windy day.

But what if there's no wind on a particular day during the kitesurf camp Egypt? Don't worry; the wind statistics in the Red Sea are generally excellent, and the islands often experience even stronger winds than the mainland. However, if there's no wind on a particular day, the boats will head to a top dive spot — Gubal Islands. On Gubal Islands, we will swim, sunbathe, enjoy activities like banana boating and wakeboarding, and go snorkeling or scuba diving. In the evening, we will have a barbecue and a beach party worthy of the best kitesurfing camps.

These islands and reefs prevent the formation of large waves, making kite lessons more comfortable than elsewhere. Furthermore, comfort is also ensured by the large size of the yacht and its low center of gravity.

Another distinguishing feature of our kitesurfing camp is the price-quality ratio. The cost of a spot on the premium-class yacht, including food, fruits, and beverages, starts from just 1,500 euros per week, and the service matches the standards of the world's best hotels. Unlike yachts, where you pay 1,000 euros per spot with surf lessons, these yachts provide a much higher standard. 500 euros is a significant difference, you might say. However, if you divide this amount by seven days, you'll see that it's only 70 euros per day. For this small extra cost, you receive first-class service, private lessons from highly qualified professionals, delicious food prepared by a chef, comfortable accommodation, a jacuzzi with hot water showers, and many other perks that play a crucial role in ensuring a comfortable holiday.

Our kitesurfing camp on the yacht offers honest and high-quality training according to a tried and true program. For example, if you choose training in small groups, but we will not be able to assemble a group for some reason, we will still provide you with training at the group price. By a group, we mean no more than four surfers per instructor throughout the kiteboarding camp.

Yachts where the kitesurfing camp is held are large vessels designed for approximately 28-30 guests and 12-15 crew members. Their approximate dimensions are up to 10 meters in width and up to 42 meters in length. What's more, all motor yachts hosting our kitesurf camps have 3 to 5 relaxation zones, including air-conditioned spaces and open decks. Additionally, these yachts feature jacuzzis and saunas. The cabins on motor yachts are spacious and comfortable, equipped with private bathrooms and fridges. Each cabin is designed for two people. If you are attending our kitesurf camp Egypt alone, don't worry; we will find you a cabin mate, or you can reserve the entire cabin for yourself.

Spots We Visit During Kite Camps on the Yacht

From Hurghada to El Gouna, there are numerous islands, but not all of them are suitable for kiteboarding and training. Almost all spots in this region have offshore wind direction, creating ideal kiteboarding conditions: flat, cleat water and white sandy bottoms.

One of the favorite spots of our kitesurfing school is Abu Mungar Island. Abu Mungar is a true paradise with turquoise water and a vast offshore lagoon. This island is visible from Hurghada and is located close to the new Hurghada Marina. We often choose Abu Mungar when we have beginners on the camp because the winds here are not as strong as on the mainland.

All of the other kite spots of our kitesurf school are located 3 to 4 hours away from the Hurghada Marina to the north. The first stop on the way is Tavilla. Tavilla used to be a wonderful place and held lots of kite camps until a kite station was established there. Unfortunately, it never became operational. The construction of the kite station significantly disrupted the wind due to the creation of a wind shadow. Now, kiteboarding, takeoff, and landing in front of the station have become less convenient. Additionally, extra fees are now required for each person and from the boat for access to Tavilla.

Nevertheless, the situation with Tavilla is not as bad as it may seem. The construction of the non-operational kite station only occupies 200 meters of the coastline, and the rest of the area remains as beautiful as before. Despite the entrance fee, there is usually plenty of free space near Tavilla Island, and kiteboarding there is still quite comfortable, making it one of the top choices of the best kitesurfing camps, including ours. There is ample wind, shallow water, and few coral reefs.

The other spots of our kitesurfing camp include the following islands: Geysum

This island is divided into three kite spots, each with its unique features.

East Geysum: Great for jumps and freestyle in a lagoon with flat water.

West Geysum: Suitable for beginners due to shallow water.

North Geysum: A spot for one yacht, suitable for both beginners and professionals.

Ashrafi
Ashrafi is the northernmost spot on our list. The lagoon between the two islands creates strong winds. There is space for foiling and freestyle, as well as a large shallow lagoon. It is suitable for everyone as long as the wind does not exceed 35 knots.
